CONTRACT SIGNED! CPCS SELECTED BY WORLD BANK TO EVALUATE PUBLIC INTERVENTIONS IN SUPPORT TO PRIVATE SOLAR PROJECTS
CPCS has been retained by the World Bank Group to undertake this study which will assess the effectiveness of public intervention and financing in attracting commercial investment in grid-connected solar projects in developing countries across the world. The study will cover both photovoltaics (PV) and concentrated solar (CSP). The final outcome of the study will be the development of practical insights and lessons to inform future interventions by International Financing Institutions (IFIs).
CPCS will be undertaking the following tasks, among others:
- Definition of an analytical framework to conduct the assessment
- Country-level analysis of a sample of representative countries standing at various stages of solar market development
- Developers Perception Survey targeting private developers, commercial banks, private equity funds involved in solar projects in developing countries
- Analytical report providing lessons learnt, key factors explaining success or failure, recommendations for future public support programs
